As per the police, Srinivas is a resident of Vizag and currently posted in New Delhi. He was staying in Old Bhubaneswar after marriage. The incident took place when he had come to the victim’s house to join a get-together.
A team of Laxmisagar police conducted raids at the office of Srinivas in New Delhi at least twice but he was on leave.
The city police later camped in Delhi for three days to nab him but he did not return. Later, his office declared him as an absconder as he did not report to work after his sanctioned leaves were over, sources said. The accused had even applied for anticipatory bail in different courts but did not get any relief.
Having no option left, he surrendered before the court on Monday. He has been sent to judicial custody after his bail plea got rejected. We will request the court to take him on remand for interrogation in connection with the case, said an officer of Laxmisagar police station.
