Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mohapatra confirmed that an agreement has been signed with the Urban Development Department to facilitate the project.

Speaking on the sidelines of a review meeting, Mohapatra said the Smart City project, though launched by the Central Government, has not achieved all its intended objectives. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has taken note of this and is determined to fast-track the development and modernization of Bhubaneswar.

“Steps are being taken to enhance urban infrastructure and beautification. A detailed action plan will be drafted soon after a high-level meeting,” the Minister added.

As part of this renewed push towards a greener city, the government has decided to introduce hydrogen-fuel buses, marking a first for Odisha. The pilot phase will assess feasibility and operational efficiency, with a wider rollout planned based on the results.
