Bhubaneswar, January 5: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD), the main opposition force in the State, has decided to resort to a massive agitation in Jajpur district against the Mohan Majhi Government in Odisha over several issues.

Speaking to reporters after a meeting with party leaders from Jajpur district at her residence in Bhubaneswar, Binjharpur MLA and Opposition Chief Whip Pramilla Mallik, said “The State Government has failed to keep its promises made during the elections. We would now strengthen our frontal organisations like Yuva, Students and Women wings in next five to six days. The agitation will begin in Jajpur district.”

The development came amid speculation over back-to-back get-togethers of party leaders in different parts of the State triggering political buzz.

It was decided in the meeting that demonstration and protests will be organsied in each and every Assembly constituencies in Jajpur district this month against the Mohan Majhi Government.

“The protest will be launched in Jajpur district and intensified across the State. We will raise every single burning issue and seek explanation and action from the Government,” said Mallik.

Several BJD leaders of Jajpur district – MLA Biswaranjan Mallick, former MP Sarmistha Sethy, former MLAs – Pranab Prakash Das and Pritiranjan Gharai –gathered for a meeting at the official residence of Mallik in Bhubaneswar earlier today.

However, the meeting triggered political buzz. The timing of the meet, however, raised eyebrows as it came days after expelled Congress MLA Mohammad Moquim – visited Jajpur district to meet several leaders ahead of formal announcement of a new political equations in the State.
