Puri, June 28: The Puri district administration has imposed restrictions on the movement of heavy vehicles on two major routes to ensure the smooth passage of devotees visiting the Alarnath Temple at Brahmagiri.
The restrictions will remain in force from June 30 to July 13, with heavy vehicles prohibited from plying between 6 am and 10 pm on the Mangala Ghat-Satapada Road and the Khajuria-Brahmagiri Market Square Road.
Puri Collector Dibya Jyoti Parida issued the order under Section 115 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, and Section 173 of the Odisha Motor Vehicles Rules, 1993.
According to the district administration, the temporary traffic restrictions have been imposed to facilitate the hassle-free movement of thousands of devotees expected to visit the Alarnath Temple during the period.
Heavy vehicle operators have been advised to use alternative routes during the restriction period to avoid inconvenience.
The Alarnath Temple at Brahmagiri witnesses a massive influx of devotees during the Anasara period of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra. As per tradition, the deities remain out of public view for a fortnight following the Snana Yatra, scheduled to be held on June 29. During this period, devotees flock to the Alarnath Temple, where Lord Alarnath is worshipped as a manifestation of Lord Jagannath.
