Bhubaneswar, Sept 8: The IMD Bhubaneswar centre has issued weather warnings predicting widespread rainfall across Odisha, with heavy to very heavy showers in Koraput and Malkangiri districts over the next few days.

On Monday, Laikera in Jharsuguda received 12 cm of rain, while Jharbandh in Bargarh recorded 8 cm. The active monsoon trough and a cyclonic circulation over the Bay of Bengal are driving the enhanced rainfall.

  • Sept 13–14: Isolated heavy rain in Nawarangpur & Nuapada.
  • Sept 14–15: No warning.

IMD cautions of crop damage, flooding. Citizens are advised to stay indoors, avoid waterlogged areas, unplug electrical appliances, and check travel updates.
