Bhubaneswar, August 30: Odisha is set to witness another spell of intense rainfall as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy showers across the state over the next four days.
According to the IMD forecast, the rainfall activity will intensify from Saturday, with a yellow warning in place for several districts. Twenty districts, including those in coastal, northern, western, and interior parts of Odisha.. Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Rayagada, and Koraput are expected to receive particularly heavy downpours.
The weather bulletin further indicated that on September 1, widespread heavy rain is likely, with Sundargarh, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj districts at risk of extremely heavy showers. On September 2, the entire state will come under a yellow warning once again.
Meteorologists have attributed the wet spell to a cyclonic circulation over the west-central Bay of Bengal, which has developed into a low-pressure system.
