Bhubaneswar, Apr 18: A sudden spell of heavy rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms lashed Bhubaneswar this morning.
Though the rain provided some relief from the prevailing heat wave conditions, it caused problems for people and led to water-logging in many low-lying areas. Several parts of the city were flooded, which made traffic even worse.
Under its influence, trees were uprooted at several places across the city and visibility was dropped as the storm continued for around 40 minutes. Even some vehicles overturned due to the force of the wind.
Due to the rain and thunderstorms, traffic slowed down and made it difficult for commuters to move around.
Many people were seen taking shelter under flyovers and bridges, as the rain came without much warning.
Meanwhile, the Regional Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar has issued a yellow alert for the next 24 hours in 15 districts of Odisha, warning about the possibility of more such storms.
