Heartbreaking tragedy in Gajapati: Father, daughter die after poisoning incident

Berhampur, May 15: In a heartbreaking incident from the Paralakhemundi area of Odisha’s Gajapati district, a man who allegedly gave poison to his two minor children before consuming it himself died while undergoing treatment this morning, along with his daughter.
The deceased have been identified as Subhashis Panigrahi and his 11-year-old daughter, Priyadarshini, both residents of Paralasahi in Gajapati district. Subhashis’s eight-year-old son, Bijayananda, had died earlier.
As per reports, Subhashis reportedly gave poison to Bijayananda and Priyadarshini before consuming it himself. Later, all three of them were rushed to Paralakhemundi Hospital, where Bijayananda was declared dead.
Later, Subhashis and Priyadarshini’s condition got worse and they were shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur. Unfortunately, Subhashis and Priyadarshini died today while undergoing treatment this morning.
Upon getting the information, police arrived at the hospital and seized the bodies. Subsequently, they were sent for post-mortem.
It is important to note that this tragic incident happened just two months after the mother of Bijayananda and Priyadarshini died under suspicious circumstances. Family problems are believed to be the reason behind the tragedy.
Further investigation into the matter was underway.
