Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi touched down in his home state late Tuesday evening, bringing back official hosting duties for the 2030 Commonwealth Games. During the closing ceremony on August 2, he stood next to Indian Olympic Association President PT Usha and Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra to receive the ceremonial flag. India is preparing to host this centennial sporting event for the first time since the memorable Delhi games in 2010. Addressing the media at the airport, Sanghavi expressed strong optimism regarding future performances on home soil. He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for multiplying the national sports budget by eight times to ensure competitors receive optimal support. The nation recently secured fourth place in the overall standings with 39 medals, taking home 13 gold, 17 silver, and nine bronze. Athletes managed to match their previous 2022 Birmingham ranking even though organizers significantly reduced the number of sporting categories. Such consistency points to a growing depth of talent across multiple disciplines.
