Sambalpur, Oct 23: Burla Police, on Thursday, busted a fraudulent job racket operating in Samablpur promising government jobs to aspirants.

Two key persons who duped people promising government housekeeping jobs (Sweeper), were held today while amounts over Rs 62 lakh were seized from their possession.

The accused have been identified as Padmavati Tandi and Rahul Ray.

According to the Burla Police, the duo had collected Rs 12,000 per applicant, especially from women and economically weaker section candidates from Sambalpur, Bargarh, Boudh, and Sonepur districts, promising sweeper jobs.

Based on complaints, investigation revealed that the accused duped aspirants using fake documents and forged recommendation letters luring them following  a number of video conferences.

Following this, the Police conducted coordinated raids and seized a huge cache of cash from the kingpin’s den.

Amid statewide chaos over the police SI scam, fraudulent bids of scammers for selling out the low-profile sweeper jobs, have somehow demotivated the genuine job seekers.
