Bhadrak, Mar 7: Police have detained four persons, including three women, and seized more than 24 kg of ganja during a raid near Charampa Railway Station in Bhadrak district.

The contraband was recovered from the Malgodown area under Bhadrak Town Police Station limits. Acting on specific inputs, the Bhadrak police special squad conducted a raid and intercepted the illegal consignment. The police seized the ganja and detained the four suspects for questioning.

According to sources, the Charampa area has allegedly become a hub for illegal activities, including the trade of illicit liquor, brown sugar, and ganja. Several smugglers are suspected to be operating in the locality.

Police said further investigation is underway to identify others involved in the smuggling network. The estimated market value of the seized ganja is over ₹3 lakh, officials added.
