New Delhi, May 10: The Union Home Ministry has on Saturday advised all media channels not to use Civil Defence Air Raid Siren sounds in broadcasts, except for community awareness programs.
The advisory warns that frequent use of such sirens may desensitize civilians, leading to confusion during actual emergencies. This comes amid heightened India-Pakistan border tensions and a wave of misinformation from Pakistan, falsely claiming damage to Indian military sites.
India has firmly rejected these claims, showcasing undamaged air bases with evidence. Meanwhile, the MHA has also directed states to conduct nationwide civil defence mock drills on May 7 to boost preparedness at all levels.
