Bhubaneswar, January 16: As a part of its commitment to ensure hassle-free citizen service delivery through technology, the Electronics & Information Technology (E&IT) Department, through the Odisha Computer Application Center (OCAC) on Friday conducted a specialised capacity-strengthening programme for Director-level officers from all Government departments.

The session focused on the practical application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) within the Government ecosystem.

The workshop was inaugurated by Principal Secretary, E&IT Department, Vishal Dev. On his opening remarks he highlighted the State’s proactive stance on emerging technologies

He emphasised that AI is no longer a futuristic concept but a present-day necessity for efficient governance.

“Next decades will be of intelligence. By equipping our Government officials with the right tools, we are ensuring that the Odisha AI Mission translates into faster, and more transparent and citizen-centric governance,” said Dev.

The intensive session was designed to demystify AI terminology and provide hands-on experience. The agenda covered key use-cases including, Drafting and Communication, search, Chat with PDF, Deep Research and Data Analysis. Beyond theory, the participants engaged in practical breakout sessions to test the identified approach to implement use-cases.

The session also focused on "Responsible AI," outlining the do's and don’ts to ensure data privacy and ethical standards are maintained while using these powerful tools.

The Odisha AI Mission is a flagship initiative of the Government of Odisha aimed at positioning the state as a leader in the AI revolution. By fostering a culture of innovation within the bureaucracy, the mission seeks to improve the "Ease of Living" for every citizen through tech-driven governance.
