Mumbai, July 17: A Goa-bound IndiGo flight from Delhi reportedly developed an engine failure mid-air and had to make an emergency landing at Mumbai airport last night.

As per reports, the flight, operated by an Airbus A320neo, safely made an emergency landing at 9:52 PM on Wednesday at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport.

In a statement, IndiGo confirmed that a "technical snag" led to the diversion of its flight to Mumbai.

A full emergency was declared for flight 6E-6271, which was originally traveling from Delhi to Goa, after one of its engines failed. According to sources, the issue was detected on July 16 while the flight was en route to Goa's Manohar International Airport.

An IndiGo spokesperson stated that, following standard procedures, the aircraft was diverted and safely landed at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai.

The airline did not disclose the number of passengers on board or provide details about the nature of the technical issue.

The spokesperson added that the aircraft will undergo the required checks and maintenance before it can return to service.

Meanwhile, an alternate aircraft has been arranged to complete the journey for passengers.
