Bhadrak, June 11: Railway Protection Force (RPF) at Bhadrak railway station apprehended two individuals involved in an inter-state ganja smuggling operation. Over 30 kilograms of ganja were seized during the operation.
According to RPF sources, officials became suspicious of the movements of two youths at the station. Upon inspecting their bags, a large quantity of ganja was discovered. The duo was immediately taken into custody. However, the alleged mastermind of the operation managed to flee the scene upon noticing the RPF presence.
RPF Station Officer M. Mahesh confirmed the seizure, stating that the arrested individuals have been identified as SK Badal and Nur Islam, both residents of the Salar area in Murshidabad district, West Bengal.
Investigations revealed that the duo was paid ₹3,000 to deliver the ganja consignment to Howrah. From there, the narcotics were to be further transported to Gujarat by another agent, as part of a larger supply chain.
The main accused, SK Hilal, is currently absconding. A manhunt has been launched to trace his whereabouts. Authorities suspect this is part of a broader smuggling network spanning multiple states.
