Fresh low-pressure likely over Bay of Bengal, IMD predicts increased rainfall in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Sept 9: The India Metrological Department (IMD) on Tuesday forecasted the a fresh low-pressure area is likely to form over the central and northern Bay of Bengal around September 13-14, which is expected to bring increased rainfall to Odisha.

According to the IMD forecast, rainfall is expected to intensify starting September 10, with heavy showers likely across various parts of Odisha on September 13.

Residents have been advised to stay alert and be prepared for potential disruptions.

Due to the approaching low-pressure system, the southern part of Odisha is expected to be the most affected, with Malkangiri and Koraput districts likely to experience the heaviest rainfall.

Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Rayagada, Gajapati, and Nabarangapur districts are expected to experience heavy rainfall. Meanwhile, Malkangiri and Koraput have been issued an orange warning for extremely heavy rainfall on September 11 and 12.

Additionally, a yellow warning for lightning and thunderstorms has been issued across Odisha today, with residents advised to exercise caution.
