Four students drown during Ganesh idol immersion in Baripada, two rescued

Baripada, Sept 12: In an unfortunate incident, four students drowned during Ganesh idol immersion in Subarnarekha Canal near Laxmiposhi of Baripada in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district on Friday.
While two of them were rescued by the fire personnel, two others are still missing, said sources.
According to the information, the students who lived in a nearby hostel had gone to immerse the idol of Lord Ganesh today. However, while bathing, they slipped and drowned. Hearing their screams, local people rushed to the spot and tried to rescue them.
Being informed, fire service officials also reached and rescued two of them while two others are still missing. Search operation still underway.
Worth noting, two minor boys were drowned in a pond during the immersion of Lord Ganesh idol in Odisha’s Ganjam district on Monday. The incident took place at Panchama near here under Golanthara police station limits.
