The four-day Artificial Intelligence (AI) Skill Development Workshop, jointly organized by Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT) and Odisha Knowledge Corporation Limited (OKCL), concluded successfully. The program, held from April 9 to April 12, witnessed participation from over 300 officials representing 145 affiliated academic institutions of BPUT. The workshop primarily focused on enhancing the skills of principals and placement heads from these institutions.
At the closing ceremony, BPUT Vice-Chancellor Prof. Amiya Kumar Rath attended as the chief guest. Interacting with participants, he expressed his satisfaction with the outcomes of the workshop. Dr. Manoranjan Pothal, Director of OKCL, highlighted that the training would enhance efficiency in the application of AI and reaffirmed OKCL’s commitment to advancing AI skill development across the state.
Prof. Shiv Kumar Mishra, Director of Undergraduate and Postgraduate Studies at BPUT, encouraged participants to begin utilizing AI tools in official and academic workflows. Meanwhile, Prof. Sujit Kumar Khuntia, Director of Curriculum Development, emphasized the need to expand AI applications and explore its potential further.
The workshop also featured sessions led by senior OKCL officials, including Senior Project Manager Sushant J. Das and Regional Manager Soumya Subham Rout, who explained various AI applications in a simplified manner for participants. Senior Manager Niladri Bihari Ray shared examples of student journeys through AI programs, demonstrating how these initiatives benefit students, institutions, and industries. Contributions from Dr. Anshuman Sar, Jayesh Mahato, and other staff members further enhanced the workshop’s success.
During the closing ceremony, all participants were honored with certificates of participation and AI toolkits by the Vice-Chancellor and Dr. Pothal. Participant feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing interest in organizing similar workshops for colleagues in the future.
