Bhubaneswar, Aug 1: Madan Mohan Samantaray, the former Superintending Engineer of the Irrigation Eastern Circle in Cuttack, has been convicted for possessing disproportionate assets.

Samantaray, who retired from his position, was charge-sheeted by the Odisha Vigilance under Section 13(2) r/w 13(1)(e) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
The Hon'ble Special Judge at the Special Court, Vigilance in Bhubaneswar, handed down a sentence of 2 years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs. 1, 00,000 on Samantaray.
In light of the conviction, Odisha Vigilance will now seek action from the competent authority to halt the pension benefits of Samantaray, in accordance with the law.
