Bhubaneswar, Ap 28: Bhubaneswar witnessed a shocking incident as a food delivery worker was violently attacked and robbed, before the assailants fled the scene. What startled authorities most were that the attackers carried out the crime openly, near a police station, seemingly challenging law enforcement? The incident occurred when the culprits attempted to snatch the delivery worker’s mobile phone.
The victim, Janmejay Gochhayat, recounted that the attack took place late last night near Master Canteen, in front of a fast-food outlet in the city. While he was waiting to deliver an order, two men approached him from behind and tried to snatch his phone. When he questioned them about their actions, one of the assailants followed him toward the fast-food shop and struck him on the leg before fleeing. The attack happened around 1:45 a.m. in the middle of the road.
Janmejay was taken to a hospital in critical condition, suffering deep injuries to his leg and multiple bruises. His family has filed an FIR at Kharavel Police Station. Based on the complaint, police have begun reviewing CCTV footage and are actively pursuing the attackers.
Janmejay expressed serious concerns about safety in Bhubaneswar. “If such attacks can occur in relatively safe areas like Master Canteen, how can any place be considered secure?” he questioned. He also alleged that the area is notorious for criminal activity, including drug abuse.
