Five Odisha Panchayats nominated for National Awards

Bhubaneswar, May 18: Five Panchayats from Odisha have been nominated for the prestigious National Panchayat Awards this year. The awards will be distributed in New Delhi on June 3. Among them, four Panchayats are in the “Deen Dayal Upadhyay Panchayat Vikas Puraskar” category, while one Panchayat has secured a place in the “Nanaji Deshmukh Sarvottam Panchayat Shatabdi Vikas Puraskar” category.

In the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Panchayat Vikas category, Ganjam district’s Potalampur Gram Panchayat from Chhatrapur block has achieved a joint third position nationally. The Panchayat will be awarded a prize money of ₹25 lakh.

In the “Adequate Water Availability Panchayat” category, Paduwa Gram Panchayat of Champua block in Kendujhar district has secured the third position at the national level, receiving a prize of ₹50 lakh.

Sundargarh district’s Hatibandha Gram Panchayat in Lathikata block has been jointly ranked second in the “Clean and Green Panchayat” category, and will receive ₹37.5 lakh.

Mandar Gram Panchayat of Ganjam district has achieved a joint second position in the “Socially Secure and Socially Just Panchayat” category, also receiving ₹37.5 lakh.

In the Nanaji Deshmukh Sarvottam Panchayat Shatabdi Vikas Puraskar category, Ganjam District Council has been awarded second place at the national level, receiving a prize money of ₹3 crore.

These recognitions highlight the efforts of Odisha’s Panchayats in sustainable development, cleanliness, social justice, and resource management, positioning the state prominently on the national stage.
