Puri, Feb 9: A 12-year-old girl, Lakshmipriya Sahu, daughter of Lingraja Sahu, tragically passed away on Saturday night following complications from a severe lice infection. The incident occurred in Champagad Sahi under Balanga police station in Puri district.

Lakshmipriya, a Class 6 student at a local school, had been suffering from lice infection for several months. Despite multiple attempts at treatment, her condition did not improve. Her mother, Satyabhama Sahu, suggested a medical procedure, but Lakshmipriya was reluctant to undergo it.

Over time, the infection worsened, affecting her skull, and the family was unable to fully grasp the seriousness of her condition. After three days, she began bleeding, prompting the family to take her to Puri Medical . Unfortunately, despite treatment, she succumbed to her illness.

Authorities have noted the role of delayed care and negligence in the tragedy, highlighting the need for timely medical attention in such cases.
