Berhampur, Oct 25: Fishermen in Ganjam district are returning to shore amid rough sea conditions triggered by the possibility of a cyclone. Fishing activities have been prohibited in the sea until October 30, and fishermen who are currently out at sea have been advised to return to shore immediately.

Authorities had issued prior warnings through the Sagar Mitras to alert fishing communities about the potential threat. Following the advisory, fishermen have begun bringing their boats back to shore as a precautionary measure.

Ganjam district has a total of 1,625 fishing boats, of which around 1,083 operate in the Aryapalli and Gopalpur areas. Boats that had ventured into the sea from Aryapalli are now gradually returning to the coast.

Meanwhile, two fishing trawlers from Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh have anchored near Aryapalli after being unable to return to their home region due to the rough sea conditions. The two trawlers are carrying 13 fishermen, who have taken shelter in the area and are reported to be staying there for safety.

Authorities have advised fishermen to strictly follow the safety guidelines and avoid venturing into the sea until conditions improve.
