Bihar, November 14: Counting of votes for the crucial Bihar Assembly elections is undersway.

It began at 8am on Friday which will be almost concluded by the afternoon following the subsequent rounds.

The poll panel showed the NDA leading on over 180 seats, comfortably crossing the halfway mark of 122.

Early trends by 9 am showed the NDA leading in 99 seats and the Mahagathbandhan in 69. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) also crossed the 50-mark, leading in 55 seats. The postal ballots were counted currently.

After briefly trailing behind the RJD in terms of number of seats with a lead, the BJP raced ahead of its opponent again, maintaining a lead on nearly 80 seats, as per trends.

Key constituencies like Lakhisarai, Alinagar, Buxar and Patna Sahib are among seats where the BJP is leading, and Raghopur, Thakurganj, Amnour, Hajipur and Bodh Gaya are seats where the RJD was leading at 9:15 am, trends from PValue Analytics showed.

While trends hint at a sweeping victory for the BJP, the actual picture will only be clear by this evening.
