Jeypore, Sept 25: A late-night fire broke out at the Sri Bikram Government School of Art and Crafts in Jeypore, Odisha, damaging several computers and other important materials.

The fire reportedly broke out on Thursday night. Preliminary information suggests that a short circuit may have triggered the blaze after rainwater seeped into an electrical board.

The school's night watchman first spotted the fire and alerted the authorities. School officials and staff soon reached the spot and informed the Fire Services department.

Fire personnel rushed to the school and brought the blaze under control. However, several items stored inside the computer room were destroyed in the fire.

The preliminary loss has been estimated at more than Rs 5 lakh. A detailed assessment will be carried out to determine the exact extent of the damage.
