Puri, Jul 9: The Singhadwara Police have filed an FIR against seven servitors for violating a ban on using mobile phones on the chariots during the Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath and his siblings.
The action followed a request from the Officer on Special Duty (OSD) for Security at the Shree Jagannath Temple, Puri, who urged the Singhadwar Police Station's Inspector-in-Charge to take legal steps against the servitors using mobile phones on the chariots during the 2025 Rath Yatra.
In an official communication, the OSD highlighted that despite a clear ban on using mobile phones on or near the chariots, several servitors were observed breaking the rule, as seen on social media and other media platforms. The OSD stressed that the use of mobile phones on the chariots not only disrupts the sanctity of the rituals but also poses significant risks to the safety of both the individuals involved and the property.
In light of these violations, the Singhadwara Police Station has filed an FIR against the seven servitors, emphasizing the need to uphold the safety and sanctity of the sacred event.
