FIR filed against filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali in Bikaner over payment dispute

Mumbai, Sept 3: An FIR has been registered against renowned filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali at the Bichwal police station in Rajasthan’s Bikaner district. Bichwal Police Station House Officer (SHO) Govind Singh Charan confirmed to IANS that the FIR was lodged on Monday night.

The complaint was filed by Prateek Raj Mathur, CEO of Jodhpur-based Radha Films and Hospitality. Mathur alleged that he was appointed as the line producer for Bhansali's upcoming film Love and War but was later removed from the project without receiving any payment. Although no formal agreement was signed, Mathur claimed he received an email confirming his appointment.

According to Mathur, he carried out several key responsibilities, including managing administrative tasks, securing government clearances, and arranging security for the film crew. He further alleged that on August 17, he was mistreated by Bhansali and two of his production managers, Utkarsh Bali and Arvind Gill, at Hotel Narendra Bhawan in Bikaner. Mathur claimed he was pushed, insulted, and threatened, with warnings that his company's future projects would be sabotaged.

The FIR includes charges of cheating and criminal breach of trust against the production team. Initially, police had declined to register the complaint, prompting Mathur to approach the court. Following the court’s directive, the FIR was officially filed, and an investigation is now underway.
