Bhubaneswar, July 15: The state government has issued a final ultimatum to ration card holders who have not yet completed their e-KYC (electronic Know Your Customer) process. According to Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra, beneficiaries must complete e-KYC within three months, failing which their ration cards will be cancelled.
Official figures reveal that approximately 20.58 lakh beneficiaries in Odisha are yet to complete the mandatory e-KYC process. As a result, their subsidised rice distribution has been temporarily halted. The government has clarified that rice distribution will resume only after the completion of e-KYC.
A three-month grace period has been granted for compliance. After this deadline, cards without updated e-KYC will be deactivated permanently.
In response to issues faced in remote and low-connectivity areas, the government is working to improve network infrastructure to ensure smooth completion of the process.
The Minister also announced that children above five years of age will now be eligible to be included in ration cards, a move aimed at expanding the benefits to more family members.
The government has urged all concerned beneficiaries to act promptly to avoid disruption of essential supplies.
