Ex-serviceman brandishes weapons, creates panic in Cuttack

Cuttack, Sept. 1: An ex-serviceman on Friday wreaked panic on Banki road in Odisha’s Cuttack with brandishing a sword and a hammer in public places.

Armed police controlled him after initiating a tiring operation.

The man was identified as Saroj Das. who retired from service a few years ago.

Sources said, that Saroj of Harirajpur village under Banki police limits, went to Kacheri ground and tried to frighten people by waving a sword in the air. Being informed, Banki Police rushed to the spot and tried him to refrain from the act. However, he tried to attack the policemen who went to nab him. 

Subsequently, the Jawan surrendered before the police after narrating his ordeal in connection with fetching a truck. He also expressed his discontent over the inaction of the police despite his written complaint, lodged against two cheats. 

As per his complaint, one Ajay Kumar Rout alias Milua and Krishna Mohan Swain alias Bulu duped lakhs of rupees from him in the name of fetching a Hyva truck.

“I had filed a complaint with the police praying legal action against the duo. However, I got no assistance from the police so far rather lost the whole savings of my life”, Ajay said during the interaction with the cop.
