Bhubaneswar, Mar 20: Odisha Commerce and Transport Minister Bibhuti Bhusan Jena informed the State Assembly on Thursday that the registrations of Electric Vehicles (EVs) in the state have witnessed approximately 85.2% growth from 2021 to 2025.
Replying to a question asked by Rajanagar MLA Dhruba Charan Sahoo, Jena revealed that Odisha has registered 1,61,338 electric vehicles in the past five years, making up 1.35% of all motor vehicles in the state.
He outlined the growth of electric vehicle registrations in Odisha from 2021 to 2025. As per reports, 5,626 EVs were registered in 2021, followed by a significant rise in 2022 with 28,447 registrations, marking a 405.63% growth.
The upward trend continued in 2023 with 44,545 EVs (56.58% growth) and in 2024 with 65,977 registrations (48.11% growth). As of March 2025, 10,423 EVs have already been registered, reflecting the steady adoption of electric vehicles in the state.
