Nuapada, Feb 9: An encounter between the CRPF personnel and Maoists broke out in a forest at Barakote area of Odisha’s Nuapada district in the wee hours of Friday.
As per reports, a group of Maoists launched an attack on the CRPF personnel at around 5 am at Barakote forest in the district when the troop was returning after conducting a combing operation at Sunabeda Wildlife Sanctuary.
Thereafter, a gunfight ensued between the two sides after the CRPF personnel retaliated promptly.
However, the Maoists fled the spot and no injury from any side has been reported so far in the encounter.
Following the attack, the CRPF personnel launched a search operation at the encounter site.
Further investigation into the matter is underway.
