Elephant carcass recovered from farm house: Hindol Forester suspended

Dhenkanal, May 1: The Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), Dhenkanal on Tuesday suspended a Forester in connection with recovery of an elephant carcass from a Hindol-based farm house.

The forest official has been identified as Diptiranjan Acharya, Forester Hindol Range.

Apart from it, the DFO has issued show-cause notice to the concerned Range Officer.

The action followed as a jumbo pachyderm’s carcass was exhumed from a farm house at Kandarasuni area under the Hindol block limit in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district.

Investigation revealed that the elephant was allegedly killed and buried in a pit as it caused tremendous damage to the farm.

The matter came to light after the information reached the Forest Department, prompting officials to begin a detailed probe.
