
Boudh, Sept 26: A female elephant calf that was estranged by its mother in the Angul-Boudh bordering forests a couple of days ago, has been sent to the Elephant Rescue Center at Kapilash in Dhenkanal, on Friday.
The elephant calf, with broken health was left for Dhenkanal today after the Boudh forest officials rescued the kid from a canal and provided essential care to it.
According to reports, the rescue team fished out the calf from a deep canal on September 13 from near the Athmalik forest. After, primary treatment, the team tried to unite the calf with its mother. However, it did not receive the kid.
Following this, the calf was under utmost care by the Boudh forest officials.
Today the calf is transferred to Kapilash under the supervision of a wildlife specialist of the Elephant Rescue Center, said a Range Officer, associated with the rescued jumbo.
