Bhubaneswar, Nov 20: A cyclonic circulation has formed over the Bay of Bengal, with weather models indicating a fresh system taking shape over the region in the coming days. According to meteorologist Umashankar Das, who shared the update on social media platform ‘X’, a circulation has already developed over the central part of the Malacca Strait, extending up to 5.8 km above sea level.

Under its influence, a low-pressure area is likely to develop over the southeast Bay of Bengal around November 22. The system is then expected to move in a west-northwest direction and may intensify into a depression over the central parts of the south Bay of Bengal by November 24.

Forecasts suggest that the system could further strengthen as it continues its west-northwestward movement. Over the subsequent 48 hours, it is likely to become more pronounced over the southwest Bay of Bengal, with atmospheric conditions remaining favorable for additional intensification.
