Angul, June 15: In a shocking incident of fratricide, an elderly brother was allegedly hacked to death by his younger sibling following a heated argument in Pokanda village under Angul district.

The deceased has been identified as Titun Seth, a resident of Pokanda village. According to reports, a quarrel broke out between the two brothers over an undisclosed issue. During the altercation, the younger brother, Bipin Seth, allegedly lost his temper and attacked Titun with an axe.

Titun sustained grievous injuries in the assault and died on the spot, sources said.

After receiving information about the incident, police from Purunakote Police Station reached the village, seized the body and launched an investigation. The accused, Bipin Seth, has been detained for questioning.

Local residents said disputes and frequent quarrels between the two brothers had reportedly occurred on several occasions in the past.

Police are investigating the circumstances that led to the fatal attack. Further details are awaited.
