Bhubaneswar, October 26: Extensive security measures have been put in place in Kendrapara as the town celebrates the 100th anniversary of its Lakshmi Puja festivities. The district police administration has deployed personnel and advanced surveillance systems to ensure peaceful and smooth celebrations.
Dr. Satyajit Naik, IGP, Central Range, Cuttack, reviewed the security arrangements and issued necessary instructions to the officers concerned.
A total of 22 platoons of police force, two Additional Superintendents of Police, 10 Deputy Superintendents of Police and 20 inspectors-in-charge have been deployed, along with 150 sub-inspectors and assistant sub-inspectors, 250 constables and 300 Home Guards. Eight special teams, each led by an inspector and supported by a platoon of force, have been formed to manage crowds and respond to emergencies. Six temporary police outposts, striking forces and bike patrol units have also been arranged.
To strengthen surveillance, a round-the-clock control room has been established, while 32 CCTV cameras have been installed at key locations. Body-worn cameras have been provided to police officers, and drones are being used to monitor crowded areas. Special traffic and parking arrangements have been made for devotees and visitors. Anti-snatching and anti-eve-teasing teams in plain clothes are also operating to ensure public safety, particularly for women.
Following the security review, a flag march was conducted under the leadership of IGP Satyajit Naik and Kendrapara SP Sidharth Kateria, IPS, to reassure the public and deter anti-social activities. For the immersion procession, 35 platoons of police force will be deployed to maintain law and order.
The police have urged the public to cooperate with the authorities, follow traffic and parking guidelines, refrain from spreading rumours and promptly report any suspicious activity to the control room or the nearest police officer.
