Bhubaneswar, Mar 23: The Commissionerate police on Saturday arrested two women drug peddlers from Khandagiri area of Bhubaneswar and seized brown sugar worth Rs 26 lakh from their possession.
The two accused have been identified as Prajna Priya Swain from Konark and Karishma Rout from Basta in Balasore.
According to reports, the detained women are well-educated and were staying in a rented residence in Bhubaneswar. They were employed in a private company while simultaneously dealing drugs to addicts.
Police Commissioner Sanjeev Panda disclosed the arrests, stating, "We conducted a raid in the Jadupur area of Khandagiri and apprehended the two women there. During the operation, we confiscated 256 grams of brown sugar from their possession along with three mobile phones and a laptop."
He further mentioned, "These individuals are highly educated and had a stable living arrangement in a rented house. Additionally, we have identified their supplier, who serves as the mastermind behind this illicit operation. Our ongoing investigation will lead to the arrest of the main culprit."
