Mumbai, Jul 22: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned four popular actors- Rana Daggubati, Prakash Raj, Vijay Deverakonda, and Manchu Lakshmi to appear before them as part of an investigation into the alleged promotion of illegal betting apps.
The ED has intensified its probe and issued notices to the celebrities involved. Rana Daggubati has been asked to appear on July 23, Prakash Raj on July 30, Vijay Deverakonda on August 6, and Manchu Lakshmi on August 13.
These actors are among 29 celebrities who the ED booked on July 10 for allegedly endorsing illegal betting apps. The investigation is being conducted under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) after five cases were registered in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
Other celebrities, including Nidhi Agarwal, Pranitha Subhash, and Ananya Nagella, are also among those facing charges for promoting illegal betting platforms in violation of the Public Gambling Act of 1867.
