ECoR records highest ever Rs 290.22 crore scrap disposal revenue in FY 2025-26

Bhubaneswar, April 6: The East Coast Railway (ECoR) has achieved a significant milestone in scrap disposal during the financial year 2025-26, recording its highest ever revenue of Rs 290.22 crore. This outstanding performance exceeds the Railway Board’s target of Rs 260 crore by Rs 30.22 crore, registering an impressive 11.62% increase over the target, said an official release.

According to an ECoR release, the achievement also marks a 7.77% growth over the previous year’s best scrap disposal revenue of approximately Rs 269.3 crore, reflecting sustained improvement in resource mobilisation and efficient asset management.

Major contributions to this record-breaking performance include the disposal of over 40,342 MT of condemned rails and permanent way materials, more than 5 lakh PSC sleepers, and significant quantities of ferrous scrap. In addition, condemned rolling stock comprising electric and diesel locomotives, coaches, and wagons were efficiently auctioned.

Efficient scrap disposal continues to be a key thrust area for East Coast Railway, as it not only generates valuable financial resources but also fosters a cleaner, safer, and more organized working environment. This achievement highlights ECoR’s commitment to operational excellence, financial prudence, and environmental sustainability, setting a benchmark for other Railway Zones across Indian Railways, it added.
