Bhubaneswar, Nov 19: At a time the toxic environment of the national capital has posed serious threat for denizens, the air quality in Odisha’s Capital City drastically falls below the normal for more than a week.

Based on the deteriorating environmental parameters recorded in Bhubaneswar during this winter, the Odisha State Pollution Control Board (OSPCB) has flagged concern over the air quality.

Air pollution level in Bhubaneswar is in the ‘Poor’ category for seven consecutive days. Abnormal dip in air quality during early November is unusual and yet worrying, said an OSPCB official.

Normally, the air quality in Odisha typically worsens during peak winter that’s between December 15 and January 15. It is due to the clinging cold containing moisture and dews particles that attract dust particles and other pollutants, closer to the ground.

However, this year, early November recorded significantly low Air Quality Index (AQI) levels here in Bhubaneswar, the official added.

Worth mentioning, Cuttack, Angul, Balasore, Talcher, and Kalinga Nagar in Jajpur are among the places that record poor AQI scores, yet lower than the normal of the yester years.
