Dutch footballers secure Group F dominance after beating Tunisia
Dutch players secured their spot at the top of Group F after defeating Tunisia 3-1 in Kansas City on Thursday. Ronald Koeman’s squad remains undefeated as they head into the knockout rounds. They leave the North African side heading home without tasting victory in this tournament. Historically known for their total football style, this modern Dutch side continues a long national legacy of strong group-stage performances at global tournaments.
Action began rapidly on the pitch. Denzel Dumfries forced an own goal from Ellyes Skhiri just three minutes into the match. Soon after, Virgil van Dijk set up Brian Brobbey, who confidently scored his third goal of the campaign. Midfielders Frenkie de Jong and Tijjani Reijnders then controlled the game tempo effortlessly through the first half.
Tunisia fought back briefly after halftime. Hazem Mastouri headed in a corner from Hannibal Mejbri in the 54th minute. However, Jan Paul van Hecke quickly crushed any comeback hopes. He scored his first international goal with a solid header from a Reijnders corner just eight minutes later. Wrapping up the group stage, the European side claimed seven points to lead the table. Japan and Sweden join them in the Round of 32.
