Ducati launches its fifth-generation Monster motorcycle in India today

Italian motorcycle brand Ducati has officially brought its fifth-generation Monster to Indian showrooms, starting at Rs 13.99 lakh. Buyers looking for the top-tier Monster+ will see prices reach up to Rs 14.45 lakh. This famous naked street bike first caught the world's attention back in 1992, and it continues to be a favorite among premium motorcycle enthusiasts across the globe.

Upgraded V2 Engine Powers New Generation

Engineers replaced the older Testastretta engine with a brand-new 890cc V2 motor. This updated powerhouse generates 111bhp at 9,000rpm and delivers 91.1Nm of peak torque at 7,250rpm. Riders will find the bike highly responsive in city traffic, as over 80 percent of its torque kicks in between 4,000rpm and 10,000rpm. Ducati also reduced the engine weight by 5.9kg, making daily commutes much easier. Furthermore, owners only need to schedule valve-clearance checks every 45,000km, a helpful feature for long-term maintenance.

Lighter Frame Enhances Street Riding

Designers reduced the overall weight of the motorcycle by 4kg, bringing the total weight to just 175kg without fuel. They achieved this by using a monocoque frame where the engine acts as a stressed member. For suspension, the bike features a 43mm Showa upside-down front fork and an adjustable Showa rear monoshock. Twin 320mm front discs with Brembo M4.32 radial calipers handle the braking duties, while Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tyres ensure excellent grip on the road. The seat rests 5mm lower at 815mm, helping more riders plant their feet firmly on the ground.

Modern Electronics Meet Classic Style

Winning the Red Dot Design Award for 2026, this motorcycle beautifully mixes modern robotics-inspired headlights with its historic muscular fuel tank shape. Riders can choose from four distinct modes—Sport, Road, Urban, and Wet. A sophisticated six-axis system manages safety features like traction control, wheelie control, and cornering ABS. Owners interact with these settings through a sharp 5-inch digital display and a new petal-shaped joystick. Buyers can also opt for Ducati Protect packages, starting at Rs 30,999, to cover routine maintenance costs.
