Bhubaneswar, April 26: Dr. Satyajit Naik, IGP of the Central Range, Cuttack, and Police Observer for the West Bengal Assembly Elections, conducted a thorough review of the police preparedness in the Katwa Assembly Constituency.

During his visit, Dr. Naik briefed all officers on the Election Commission of India’s core objectives, which include ensuring violence-free, intimidation-free, and inducement-free elections. He emphasized a zero-tolerance policy for booth capturing, booth jamming, and source jamming.

Dr. Naik directed strict adherence to the Election Commission's guidelines to ensure free and fair elections. Key measures he outlined included:

  • Updating Lists of History-Sheeters and Trouble-Makers: A priority was placed on preparing updated lists of individuals with criminal backgrounds and potential troublemakers.
  • Monitoring and Execution of Pending Non-Bailable Warrants: He advised for the daily monitoring of outstanding non-bailable warrants, with emphasis on swift action.
  • Joint Visits to Polling Stations: Police and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) will jointly visit all polling stations to ensure security.

Dr. Naik also emphasized the need for Intensive Coverage of Vulnerable Polling Stations and Confidence Building Measures (CBMs)in nearby hamlets to foster public trust.

In addition, extensive area domination and CBMs are being implemented in vulnerable areas to further build public confidence. The coordination between local police and CAPF was reviewed and found to be effective.

Dr. Naik instructed all police personnel to strictly follow the Election Commission's guidelines, warning that any violations would result in stringent legal action.

The overall focus remains on maintaining law and order while ensuring a free, fair, and peaceful election process.
