Her remarkable journey to the summit clash included a stunning semi-final victory over former world champion Tan Zhongyi of China, marking the biggest win of her young career.

Tactical Victory 

Deshmukh secured her place in the final with a decisive 1.5-0.5 victory in the semi-final tie. After securing a draw with black pieces in the first game, she delivered a clinical performance with white in the second. Employing a dynamic Alapin Sicilian Defence, she navigated a complex game that saw momentum shift before she ultimately outplayed the world number four.

Dominating the Competition

Her path to the final has been nothing short of dominant. Throughout the tournament, the teenager has displayed incredible form and composure. In the earlier rounds, she knocked out the second seed, Zhu Jiner of China, before overcoming fellow Indian Harika Dronavalli in a tense quarter-final that went to tie-breaks.

Deshmukh's achievement has significant implications for Indian chess. Her spot in the final automatically qualifies her for the prestigious Candidates tournament, the final event to determine the challenger for the World Championship title.
