Puri, August 25: The dismantling of the chariots has begun in Puri following the conclusion of the world-famous Rath Yatra. As per tradition, a ceremonial anukula was performed before the dismantling process, just as it is done during the construction of the chariots.

Bhoi Sardar Rabi Bhoi performed the ritual by offering the Lord’s Ladu Mahaprasad. The dismantling will begin with Devi Subhadra’s Darpadalana chariot, followed by Lord Jagannath’s Nandighosa and Lord Balabhadra’s Taladhwaja.

The process will start from the Kalasha at the top of the chariot. Once dismantled, the wooden components will be placed along the Bada Danda before being transported to designated storage areas. The wood from the chariots is traditionally reused for preparing Kotha Bhoga for the deities.

Several important chariot components—including the 27 Parswa Devatas, 12 horses, three charioteers and the Thekara Bada—have already been removed and safely stored.

After Darpadalana, the Nandighosa chariot will be dismantled, followed by the Taladhwaja, completing the traditional post-Rath Yatra process.
