Sambalpur, March 23:Outbreak of diarrhoea has claimed one life and left at least 127 others in hospital in Odisha’s Samablpur.
As many as 49 patients are reportedly critical and are undergoing treatment in VIMSAR, Burla for high-end treatments.
As many as 127 patients have been so far infected with ‘diarrhoea’ in Sambalpur’s Hirakud area in the last two days, informed the Medical Officer In-Charge of Hirakud CHC on Saturday. They are mosltly from the Gurudwarapada, Goudapada, Kalopada, Machhapada, and New Market Colony of Hirakud
Acting on the alarming situation, the district headquarters hospital authorities have made essential arrangements to control the infection. The mobile health unit is keeping its eye on the current situation as part of its measures to prevent the disease from spreading. Residents of the diarrhoea-hit areas have been advised to intake pure and boiled water.
As a pivotal measure, the supply of pure drinking water has been initiated to the affected area, as a part of prevention.
