Deoghar (Jharkhand), July 31: President Droupadi Murmu, while addressing the inaugural convocation of AIIMS Deoghar on Thursday, called on the medical community to uphold compassion and empathy in their practice, urging them to be "clinical in diagnosis, but not in behaviour."
Speaking at the temple town’s prestigious medical institute, the President emphasized the unique role doctors play in society. “While precision is crucial in medical treatment and surgery, it is equally important to treat patients with kindness and sensitivity. People often see doctors as divine figures who can heal and bring hope,” she remarked.
President Murmu further highlighted the transformative power of moral values and compassion in healthcare. “With ethical conduct, empathy, and a spirit of service, doctors can illuminate the lives of those suffering in darkness,” she said, encouraging graduates to combine professional excellence with human warmth.
