Puri, September 4: Former Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan visited Puri on the occasion of Janmashtami and sought the blessings of Jagadguru Shankaracharya Swami Nischalananda Saraswati at the Govardhan Peetha.
Pradhan, who was in Puri to have darshan of Lord Jagannath, visited the Govardhan Peeth along with his wife and met the Jagadguru. The couple held discussions with the Shankaracharya on various issues and sought his guidance.
During the interaction, Pradhan particularly sought the Jagadguru’s views on the responsibilities of a social worker, including the nature of their work and the goals they should pursue.
The meeting also comes amid repeated concerns expressed by the Shankaracharya over the Centre and state governments allegedly not seeking his views on various religious matters.
Speaking on the occasion, Pradhan said he has always sought the Jagadguru’s advice while carrying out his responsibilities and follows the principles of Sanatan Dharma in his work.
Pradhan further said that receiving the blessings and guidance of the Jagadguru on the auspicious occasion of Janmashtami was a matter of great privilege for him.
