Hyderabad, Sept 1: South Indian actor Dhanush has been cast to portray the late Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, former President of India, in the upcoming biographical film ‘Kalam: The Missile Man of India’. Director Om Raut expressed his confidence in Dhanush, stating that no one else could embody the iconic figure better. “He is a phenomenal actor, and it is a delight that he agreed to take on this role,” Raut said. The director also shared his excitement about collaborating with Dhanush on the project.
Om Raut, known for his passion for biopics, acknowledged the challenges involved in making a film based on a real person. “It’s crucial to carefully decide what aspects of the story should be included and what should be left out,” he explained. “The film must be presented in a manner that is both accurate and inspiring.” Om Raut also revealed that Dr. Kalam’s life and writings have had a profound impact on him personally, motivating him to bring the story to the big screen. He hopes the film will inspire a wide audience, especially the youth.
The first look of ‘Kalam: The Missile Man of India’ was unveiled at the Cannes Film Festival in May.
