Bhubaneswar, Sept 1: Residents of the capital city woke up to severe disruptions on Monday morning as dense fog engulfed both urban and rural areas, reducing visibility and throwing traffic into disarray.
Reports indicated that visibility was particularly poor on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar, leaving commuters struggling to navigate through the thick white blanket. Motorists faced major difficulties, with traffic moving at a snail’s pace on key routes including National Highway 16 and the Cuttack-Bhubaneswar Highway. The slow movement heightened the risk of accidents during the morning rush hour.
While the dense fog created challenges for daily commuters, it came as the state experiences some respite from the intense cold wave that had gripped it in recent weeks. Temperatures during both day and night have risen, bringing relief to residents who had been enduring harsh winter conditions.
Despite the improved temperatures, the foggy conditions are expected to continue to affect travel in and around the city, with authorities urging commuters to exercise caution
